Syrian Democratic Youth Council demands justice for Syriac Leader Saeed Malke 11 years after his arrest by Syrian regime

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Syrian Democratic Youth Council commemorated the 11th anniversary of the arrest of Syriac leader Saeed Malke by Syrian regime forces, issuing a statement that urged the regime to reveal his fate after over a decade of uncertainty.

In the statement, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to the foundational principles laid down by Malke, acknowledging his significant contributions to the struggle for the rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people. They highlighted Malke’s enduring influence, shaped by his visionary leadership and dedication to his people’s cause.

The Council called on the international community and the Committee of Missing and Forcibly Disappeared to exert pressure on the Syrian regime to disclose the whereabouts of Saeed Malke and the thousands of other detainees held in the regime’s prisons.

The statement concluded with a pledge to continue the struggle, following in the footsteps of the martyrs, to ensure that all peoples achieve their rights to freedom and dignity.
