Solar-powered water plant opens in Dayro Zcuro, North and East Syria, serving 30,000 residents
DAYRO ZCURO, North and East Syria — In an effort to improve services for local residents, the Municipalities Union in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) in North and East Syria has opened the Sweidan Solar-Powered Water Plant after three months of continuous work.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Co-Chairs of the Municipalities Union, local dignitaries, and villagers from Sweidan in the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro.
During the event, Maher al-Allawi, Co-Chair of the Municipalities Union, highlighted the destructive impact of hostile policies that led to the sabotage of essential service facilities, including water plants. He commended the efforts of the Sweidan Municipality and local leaders in supporting the development of this strategic project, which will provide water to 30,000 people.
Al-Allawi emphasized that the success of the project will significantly improve the water situation in Dayro Zcuro.
The plant, which comprises 332 solar panels generating up to 620 watts of power, features a pump system with a capacity of 90 kilowatts and is supported by electrical transformers and a generator to ensure consistent operation. It will run daily during the summer for 12–13 hours, ensuring residents have access to safe drinking water.
