North and East Syria Foreign Relations Commission condemns Turkish violations in Cafrin, calls for international action
ZALIN, North and East Syria — In response to the recent attacks and violations by the Turkish occupation forces and their proxy Syrian National Army (SNA) against civilians in the village of Kakhara near Cafrin (Afrin) in northwest Syria, Foreign Relations Commission of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) issued a strong condemnation. Peaceful villagers, including women, the elderly, and children, were subjected to shootings and beatings during their protest of the oppressive practices of factions loyal to Turkey.
In its statement, the Foreign Relations Commission urged the international community to take immediate action to end Turkey’s occupation of Cafrin and halt ongoing plans for demographic change.
The statement also accused the Turkish occupation of undermining the efforts of the US-led International Coalition to combat the Islamic State (ISIS) by providing safe havens for ISIS leaders in the areas under its control.
The Commission called on the UN Security Council to address the situation in northern Syria, especially Cafrin, by placing the region under international protection. This move, they argued, would create conditions for the safe return of displaced residents and the removal of illegal militias, further stabilizing Syria, advancing the political process, and curbing migration to Western nations.
