Bethnahrin Patriotic Union honors martyrs of Bethnahrin National Council at memorial event in Baghdede, Iraq
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — The Bethnahrin Patriotic Union Party (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) held a memorial event to honor the martyrs of the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB) at the HBA headquarters in the Nineveh Plains town of Baghdede (Qaraqosh / Hamdaniyah), Iraq.
The event, attended by members of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian community from various towns and cities across Iraq, commenced with a minute of silence to honor the martyrs.
Ronak Elias, a member of the HBA Political Bureau, delivered a statement emphasizing the enduring path of struggle established by the MUB martyrs. Elias called on all institutions representing the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people to unify their voices and stances, highlighting the need for collective responsibility as the region faces impending changes.
She further underscored the importance of self-reliance to confront the challenges of the present and future.
The evening also featured poems by Nour Kajjo and Saadia Bahno, who reflected on the martyrs and the significance of martyrdom. The event concluded with a documentary showcasing the lives and sacrifices of several MUB martyrs, highlighting their critical roles during pivotal moments in the struggle.
