Bethnahrin Women’s Union advocates for global women’s rights at 13th annual conference in Kassel, Germany
KASSEL, Germany — The 13th Annual Women’s Rights Conference held in Kassel, Germany, brought together women leaders from around the globe to address the role of women in political life and decision-making. The Bethnahrin Women’s Union (Huyodo d’Neshe d’Bethnahrin, HNB) participated actively in the three-day event, focusing on the need for stronger female representation in political decision centers and government.
One of the HNB’s leaders co-chaired a dialogue session on the second day, where she emphasized the significance of global solidarity among women. Representing Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women, the HNB’s delegates called for equal rights across all sectors and voiced strong support for ending violence against women worldwide.
Throughout the conference, delegates from numerous countries delivered speeches, sharing their identities, struggles, and aspirations. The HNB highlighted the resilience and achievements of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women in the Middle East and Europe, as well as the broader rights of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community.
In addition to discussions and speeches, attendees participated in a women’s march through the streets of Kassel, advocating for respect and justice for women globally. The HNB also took part in a marketplace event, showcasing traditional foods and handicrafts, adding cultural depth to the conference.
The final day concluded with group discussions, where decisions and demands were formalized for the conference’s closing report. The Presidential Committee presented a summary of achievements from the past five years, followed by voting to elect a new committee for the next term. Among those elected was Tipelia Ahron, Deputy President of the HNB in Europe, marking a significant milestone for the HNB’s influence in advocating Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) women’s rights on a global stage.
This election strengthens the Union’s role in addressing women’s issues and amplifying the voices of its community in international forums.
