Syriac Military Council holds funeral for four martyrs killed in Turkish bombing

HASAKAH, North and East Syria — The Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) held a solemn funeral ceremony for four of its fighters who were martyred on the Tel Tamr frontline as a result of Turkish airstrikes. The fallen fighters were laid to rest in the Syriac–Assyrian Martyrs’ Cemetery in Hasakah, North and East Syria.

The martyrs were identified as Hawro (Comrade) Mohammed Jassim al-Alo (nom de guerre Yakub Hasakah), Hawro Ahmed Hamza al-Ali (nom de guerre Isa Hasakah), Hawro Ibrahim Talab Salibi (nom de guerre Isa Hasakah), and Hawro Mohammad Ahmad al-Barrak (nom de guerre Mohammad Hasakah).

The funeral ceremony was attended by representatives from MFS, the Bethnahrin National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB), delegations from the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) and Sutoro Women, officials from the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES), and members of the public.

During the ceremony, Armin Mardo, Co-Chair of the Syriac–Assyrian Martyrs Families Foundation, delivered a heartfelt statement emphasizing the unwavering commitment of MFS to honor the martyrs by continuing their struggle. He rejected the politics of exclusion and pledged to work toward a democratic, pluralistic Syria where all components coexist in peace and national partnership.

Khabour Akad, a leader in the Tel Tamr Military Council, lauded the courage and heroism of the martyrs of the MFS in resisting the Turkish occupation and its allied factions on the Tel Tamr front and the Khabur River Valley. He reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to defending the region and protecting its diverse communities from ongoing violations.

The Syriac Military Council had previously announced the martyrdom of three fighters last Tuesday, followed by the loss of another on Wednesday. The latest casualties underscore the persistent challenges faced by the Council and other forces in their defense of the region against Turkish aggression.
