Syrian Democratic Council representatives raise Free Syria Flag in Washington, emphasizing unity and democracy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a symbolic act of unity and hope for a democratic future, Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) representatives Bassam Ishaq and Sinam Mohamad raised the Free Syria flag in front of the SDC office in Washington, D.C.

Ishaq emphasized that the flag represents all Syrians, regardless of their beliefs, religions, or political affiliations, stating, “This is the true flag of Syria. It stands for justice, equality, and inclusion for everyone.” He called for a new political system in Syria based on genuine partnership and equality among all its citizens.

Mohamad shared her vision of a democratic Syria inclusive of all ethnic groups, including Kurds, Arabs, and Syriacs–Assyrians. “Excluding any ethnic component from Syria’s mosaic will only hinder its progress,” she remarked, expressing her hope to build a nation free from tyranny.

She also highlighted the significant contributions of Kurdish and Syriac–Assyrian communities in the fight against terrorism, particularly in liberating territories from the Islamic State (ISIS).

The flag-raising event concluded with a tribute to the martyrs who gave their lives for Syria’s liberation from terrorism.

The Peoples’ Democratic Council of North and East Syria recently approved the raising of the Free Syria flag across all institutions, departments, and international representations under its jurisdiction, affirming its role as a unifying symbol for all Syrians.
