Syriac Union Party and European Syriac Union host dialogue in Södertälje on future of Syriac-Assyrian people in Syria

SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden — The Syriac Union Party (SUP), in collaboration with the European Syriac Union (ESU), hosted a joint dialogue session at the Beth Nahrin Cultural Center at the Suroyo TV building in Södertälje, Sweden. The event addressed the challenges facing the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities amid Syria’s evolving political landscape.

The dialogue session, which took place on 16 February, focused on the current conditions of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Syria, emphasizing the importance of unifying political forces and organizations to address the impacts of global and domestic political changes.

Another key topic was practical measures to support the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community in Syria, which faced severe humanitarian and economic hardships. The dialogue explored ways to provide meaningful aid and foster cooperation to alleviate their struggles.

The session also discussed developments concerning the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES). It examined recent governance changes and their implications for the rights and representation of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) communities.
