Syriac Cross distributes second batch of drip irrigation supplies in Amuda, North and East Syria
AMUDA, North and East Syria — The Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development successfully completed the second phase of its initiative to support summer vegetable farming through drip irrigation in North and East Syria.
As part of its ongoing efforts, Syriac Cross distributed irrigation networks and related equipment to farmers in Amuda and surrounding areas. This phased distribution aims to provide farmers with essential resources at critical stages of cultivation.
Earlier in the program, the Syriac Cross provided seeds and fertilizers to beneficiaries, with plans to distribute pesticides and other agricultural treatments in the upcoming phase.
This initiative is a cornerstone of the organization’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural capacity, promote sustainable farming practices, and support the livelihoods of local farmers in the region.
Syriac Cross’s Mission
The Syriac Cross Organization is a volunteer-driven humanitarian aid group operating under the principles of the Geneva Convention, as upheld by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Established in Syria in 2013, SCO is dedicated to improving living conditions for those impacted by the civil war, particularly individuals who cannot or choose not to leave the country. These include vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and the economically disadvantaged.
SCO’s work extends beyond direct aid to public advocacy, raising global awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and seeking financial support for its initiatives. Its projects range from providing food baskets and medical assistance to displaced families in areas such as Hasakah, Amuda, Darbasiyah, and Kobane, to implementing its Emergency Response Plan to address immediate needs arising from the conflict.
By supporting the agricultural sector and broader community resilience, the Syriac Cross Organization remains a cornerstone of stability and self-reliance in North and East Syria, ensuring that local communities have the resources and support needed to thrive.
