Syriac Union Party in Lebanon holds election rally in support of Lebanese Forces Party-Popular Bloc combination in Zahle

ZAHLE, Lebanon – Secretary General of the Syriac Union Party in Lebanon Michel Mallo yesterday received Strong Republic Bloc MP Elias Stephan, a delegation from the Lebanese Forces Party’s Zahle electoral coordination committee, led by Alan Mounayer, as well as Popular Bloc candidate for mayor of Zahle Salim Ghazali.

The Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) reaffirmed its electoral coalition and full support for the Lebanese Forces Party and also the Popular Bloc, led by Salim Ghazali. USUP has mobilized its party base in support of the Lebanese Forces Party. The Popular Bloc has its headquarters in Zahle.

The joint election meeting was held in preparation for the municipal elections next month. Participants were informed about the program and had the opportunity to ask questions about public services in their district. Attendees stressed the need to develop the region and address the existing problems with regards to public services that fall under the jurisdiction of Zahle municipality and district. The elections concern all of Zahle district, where approximately 175,000 voters are eligible to vote.

The Lebanese Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities has announced that the municipal elections will be held throughout Lebanon for four weeks during May. They will take place on the 4th in Mount Lebanon, on the 11th in North Lebanon and Akkar, on the 18th in Beirut, the Bekaa, Baalbek and Hermione, and on the 25th in South Lebanon and Nabatieh.
