Syrian Democratic Forces repels ISIS attack in Eastern Syria, civilian injured in clashes

DAYRO ZCURO, North and East Syria — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) successfully thwarted an attack by the Islamic State (ISIS) on military positions in Al-Sabha, a town in the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), following intense clashes that resulted in a civilian injury.

In an official statement, the SDF reported intercepting an ISIS cell that approached a checkpoint on motorcycles armed with machine guns. SDF fighters engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat and preventing the attack from escalating.

During the confrontation, a civilian in the vicinity sustained injuries and was promptly evacuated by SDF personnel for medical treatment. The distraction caused by the evacuation allowed the ISIS cell to escape.

The SDF reiterated its commitment to combating ISIS, dismantling its remaining networks, and ensuring lasting stability in the region.

The SDF, a coalition of various military councils and units, includes the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo, MFS), which has played a significant role in its formation and operations.
