U.S. Treasury sanctions individuals and companies supporting Iran’s illicit activities
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Treasury Department announced a new round of sanctions targeting 10 individuals and 27 entities accused of supporting Iran’s illicit activities. The move is part of the ongoing American economic pressure campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The latest U.S. sanctions focus on individuals, some holding dual citizenship, operating in Tehran, other Iranian cities, the UAE and Hong Kong, as well as businesses involved in general trade, petrochemicals, money transfers and logistics. The measures highlight continued attempts to evade previous American sanctions.
According to the Treasury’s statement, the targeted parties are involved in bolstering Iran’s economy in ways that contradict U.S. policies, particularly activities linked to Iran’s nuclear program. The sanctions aim to disrupt networks that facilitate Iran’s unauthorized economic operations.
