DAARNES and Syrian Government reach agreement on student exams in North and East Syria
BETH ZALIN, North and East Syria / DARAMSUQ — The Education Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) announced an agreement has been reached with the Syrian Government’s Ministry of Education concerning the administration of Preparatory and Secondary Certificate Exams in cities across the region.
In a statement, the DAARNES Education Authority affirmed that the agreement aligns with its ongoing efforts to support the educational process and protect students’ rights throughout Syria. The announcement followed multiple meetings with the Syrian Ministry of Education, marked by cooperation and institutional coordination.
The agreement outlines several key provisions aimed at ensuring the smooth and fair conduct of exams. Notably, the Preparatory Exams, initially scheduled for 14 June, have been postponed to 21 June. Additionally, joint supervisory committees will be established to oversee exam administration in North and East Syria, ensuring adherence to standards of integrity and professionalism.
Temporary shared registration centers will also be set up to facilitate student enrollment across regions, adhering to approved educational criteria. Registration at these centers is set to open this Wednesday.
The exams will be conducted in six major cities: Beth Zalin (Qamishli), Hasakah, Raqqa, Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), Tabqa, and Sarrin (Kobani countryside), chosen for their logistical accessibility and infrastructure.
The DAARNES Education Authority emphasized its dedication to providing a stable and secure educational environment for all Syrian students while fostering collaborative efforts to enhance education on a national level.
The Syrian Ministry of Education issued a separate statement confirming that updated exam schedules, registration deadlines, and procedural guidelines for the designated centers would be announced shortly.
This agreement represents a significant step toward bridging administrative divisions and prioritizing the educational future of Syrian students in all regions.
