Dany Sada: American-born Assyrian engineer returns to homeland to support his people

NOHADRA (DOHUK), Iraq — In a life-changing decision rooted in heritage and identity, American-born Assyrian Dany Sada, an engineer by profession, has returned to his ancestral homeland in Beth Nahrain (Mesopotamia) to support efforts aimed at reviving his people.

Born and raised in the United States, Sada earned his degree in electrical engineering from the University of California. Despite building a successful life abroad, his deep connection to his cultural roots compelled him to make a permanent move to Beth Nahrain.

Now based in the city of Nohadra (Duhok), Sada works with the nongovernmental organization Return, which is dedicated to empowering Chaldean–Syriac-Assyrian communities in Iraq. The organization focuses on facilitating the return of displaced families to their ancestral towns and supporting the reconstruction and revitalization of these historic areas.

Sada’s commitment and journey have not gone unnoticed. He has been invited to serve as the keynote speaker at the upcoming “Assyrian Day” event hosted by the Assyrian National Council of Australia. During the event, he will share his personal story of return, highlight the mission and impact of Return and offer a message of hope, resilience, and responsibility to the Chaldean–Syriac-Assyrian diaspora worldwide.
