Qamishli International Airport placed under new administrative authority by North & East Syria’s Executive Council

ZALIN (Qamishli), North and East Syria — In a significant administrative shift, the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Region of North and East Syria (DAARNES) has issued Decree No. 136, formally establishing a General Directorate for Qamishli International Airport.

According to the decree, the new directorate will operate under the authority of the Executive Council, with full administrative and financial powers. It will manage all operational, legal, financial, and logistical affairs of the airport. The decision, signed in Ain Issa, takes effect immediately.

The move signals a broader push by DAARNES to assert civilian control over strategic infrastructure and improve governance in a region long shaped by conflict and competing authorities.
