After American’s strikes on Iranian nuclear reactors, USUP President Ibrahim Mrad calls for overthrow of Iranian regime
BEIRUT — Ibrahim Mrad, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP), hailed Sunday’s U.S. strikes targeting Iranian nuclear reactors as a long-overdue and necessary step but emphasized that it would remain incomplete without a historic follow-up: the full dismantling of the ruling clerical regime in Tehran.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook account, Mrad asserted that Iran’s current leadership has turned the country into a perpetual source of extremism and chaos, posing an enduring threat to regional and global security. “There can be no peace in the Middle East while a regime continues to export militias, crises, and devastation,” he wrote.
He argued that dismantling the mullahs’ project and paving the way for a democratic system rooted in freedom, pluralism, and peace is the only path to restoring dignity and prosperity to the Iranian people and the broader region. “The international community now has a historic opportunity to correct course and put an end to the nightmare known as the Islamic Republic,” Mrad said.
Earlier, Mrad had also called on the Lebanese government to take what he described as a “bold decision” by dismantling what remains of Hezbollah’s Iranian-backed arsenal in Lebanon. He urged officials to act decisively before the group receives a “religious mandate” from Tehran that could drag Lebanon into a catastrophic conflict—one that would threaten what’s left of the country’s state institutions and undermine the hopes of the newly formed government.
“There is no legitimacy above the state, and no weapon that should be allowed to rise above the Lebanese army,” Mrad declared. “History will not forgive hesitation. To falter now would be a betrayal—clear and unforgivable—of Lebanon and its people.”
