Syriac Cross completes winter input distribution for farmers in Amuda

AMUDA, Beth Nahrin — In line with its mission to support communities across the Region of North and East Syria and empower them in agricultural, industrial, commercial, and craft sectors, the Syriac Cross for Relief and Development has completed the distribution of winter agricultural inputs to dozens of farmers in Amuda, al-Hasakah countryside. This effort comes as the region’s farmers prepare for the winter planting season and the cultivation of diverse vegetable crops.

The distribution included seeds and fertilizers tailored to different types of vegetables such as beans, lettuce, parsley, spinach, and more, as part of a project supporting drip-irrigated vegetable farming. Beyond providing seeds and fertilizers, the project also offered training sessions for the farmers, covering best practices in planting, irrigation, fertilization, and problem-solving to boost crop yield and maximize the use of their fertile lands in the Gozarto (Jazira) canton, known for its suitability for a wide range of vegetables and fruits.

In April of this year, the organization distributed seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to support summer vegetable cultivation, reinforcing the region’s goal of food self-sufficiency.
