Syriac Union Party Delegation Visits Syrian Democratic Forces General Commander
Syrian Democratic Forces General Commander Mazloum Abdi today received a delegation from the Syriac Union Party (SUP), headed by the co-president of the SUP Sanharib Barsoum, and Messrs. Afram Ishaq, Gabriel Shamoun and Abeer Eliya, members of the executive committee of the SUP. Also present was the spokesperson of the Syrian Democratic Forces Kino Gabriel. Gabriel is a delegated member of the Syriac Military Council to the Syrian Democratic Forces. The Syriac Military Council (Syriac-Aramaic Mautbo Fulhoyo Suroyo) is part of the SDF.
Discussed were the latest developments at the front with the Turks and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army in northeastern Syria; the latest Turkish attack on the cities and surroundings of Ras al-Ain and Tel Abyad; the occupation of the Turkish army and related armed groups on those areas; the negative effects of this occupation on the people of the region; the displacement of civilians, as well as Turkey’s desired policy of demographic change for the occupied areas.
The SUP praised the role of the Syrian Democratic Forces in protecting the region and its people, even during the most difficult times. This strengthens the unity and empowers the peoples of northeastern Syria to stand together in all setbacks and efforts to overcome them. Both parties emphasized the importance of the political parties’ role in the diplomatic field in order to gain international support for the Democratic Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces. And to prevent the Turkish regime from any attempts for future militarily expansion which will only bring more killing, destruction and displacement to the people of the region – including our Syriac people.
Both parties further emphasized the need to quickly end the occupation and find solutions for a safe return of the displaced people from the occupied and besieged areas. Finally, the co-president of the Syriac Union Party stressed the importance of a political solution for Syria to ensure the cessation of military actions, the pursuit of the much-desired democratic change, and the guarantee of all rights for all components in new constitution for Syria.
