NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — “Turkish violations, whether by the Turkish Army or Turkish-backed factions, continue against unarmed civilians in northeastern and northwestern Syria,” spokesperson for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Kino Gabriel said in a statement on Thursday.
“These violations are not new, but reflect the mentality with which the Turkish forces and their factions deal with innocent civilians in all areas under their control, through displacement of the population, kidnapping of civilians, looting of their property, in addition to carrying out continuous bombings,” said Gabriel.
Gabriel also spoke about the recent report of the U.N. Commission of Inquiry on Syria released this week detailing some of the many war crimes committed by Turkish-backed factions.
“The Commission report confirmed this issue through the information, facts, and testimonies it has documented committed against the thousands of people who have been subjected to such Turkish violations,” Gabriel commented.
“Before the Turkish aggression, the region was secure and stable, but after its occupation by Turkey, it became a scene of chaos and the international community must hold the perpetrators of these violations accountable and prosecute Turkey for what it is doing,” concluded Gabriel.
