North and East Syria to open schools on 27 September

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The Legal Committee of the General Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria held a legal session this week during which the articles related to the law of criminal procedure were discussed.

The draft law contains 261 articles that are ready for presentation and ratification by the General Council in the coming days.

The Education Directorate of the DAA issued a circular stating the opening of all schools in DAA areas beginning on Sunday 27 September and requiring all health rules and guidelines be followed.

Earlier in September, member of the Crisis Cell in North and East Syria’s Gozarto (Jazira) Region and Co-Chair of the Municipality Directorate of the DAA Joseph Lahdo (SUP) said in a statement to SyriacPress that, “The Autonomous Administration recently issued a resolution lifting the curfew and allowing for gatherings, opening of halls, and returning prayers to places of worship, provided that health precautions are followed in terms of social spacing and the use of masks and sterilizers to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.”

On 26 August, the Crisis Cell lifted the curfew imposed to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
