Syriac Military Council: “we pledge to our people that we will be the stronghold against anyone who thinks they can attack our ancestral land”
TEL TAMR / GOZARTO (JAZIRA) Region, Syria – After renewed attacks by and intensified clashes with Turkish proxy militias in recent weeks, the Syriac Military Council (MFS), co-founder of the Syrian Democratic Forces, stated via a statement published on Twitter, that its fighters thwarted a hostile infiltration operation in the vicinity of the village of Umm al-Kayf, north of Tel Tamr where the MFS is mobilized.
The MFS was able to drive back and kill and wound several militants-cum-Turkish-mercenaries, which prompted the proxy militias to shell the area with artillery mortars.
Such terrorist attacks happen regularly despite a ceasefire between Turkey, the U.S. and Russia.
In its statement published on Twitter, the MFS (Mawtbo Fulhoyo Suryoyo) says:
With the continued attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on our areas, the fighters of the Syriac Military Council thwarted an infiltration operation in the vicinity of the village of Umm al-Kayf, north of Tel Tamr. Clashes erupted, resulting in deaths and injuries among the mercenaries. Our forces forced the rest of the mercenaries to flee.
After their failed infiltration attempt, the mercenaries, with the support of the Turkish enemy, bombed the safe villages with artillery and mortar shells. We, in turn, used our legitimate right to defend our villages and people, and we responded by targeting the sources of hostile fire.
All these attacks take place under the eyes and in the presence of international guarantor Russia. We observe and strongly denounce Russian reluctance in deterring and stopping these attacks which constitute outright violations of international ceasefire agreements, and the inability of Syrian government forces to participate in resisting these attacks by the Turkish occupation army and its proxy militias.
In turn, we affirm that we will not hesitate to defend our sanctities and our ancestral land from all the cruel enemies who threaten it and seek to jeopardize the safety and security of its civilians. And we pledge to our people that we will be the stronghold against anyone who thinks they can attack our ancestral land.
