President of Lebanon Michel Aoun: Only the Lebanese people can ensure their independence

BEIRUT — In a post to his official Twitter account on Sunday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun stated that no partner will help Lebanon preserve its independence, sovereignty, and freedom.

Aoun’s tweet followed remarks by the Commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Ismail Qaani who said during a speech at Tehran University marking the first anniversary of the death of former Quds Force commander Qassem Suleimani. During his speech, Qaani stated claimed that Suleimani played an integral role in ensuring the independence of Lebanon.
