Syriac Scout Garden opens in Maarat Sednaya, Syria

DARAMSUQ — In the presence of Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, the Syrian Syriac Scout Garden opened in the Syriac monastery of Mor Aphrem in the town of Maarat Sednaya, northeast of the capital Daramsuq (Damascus).

The opening was also attended by Patriarchate Deputy for Youth and Christian Upbringing Archbishop Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Deputy for Monks Affairs and Mor Aphrem Syriac Seminary Archbishop Mor Yacoub Babawi, and a number of Scout leaders.

During the opening of the park, the Patriarch, Archbishops, and all those present planted trees in the Syriac Scout Garden of the Mor Aphrem monastery.

Several days ago, the Patriarchate Department for Youth Affairs and Christian Upbringing, implemented the first meeting of the Syrian Syriac Scout to enhance the exchange of experiences between the Scout regiments.
