Syriac Maronite Patriarch al-Raï meets former Lebanese President Amine Gemayel
BETH KERKE (BKERKI) – Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Béchara Boutros al-Raï met with several Lebanese personalities, including the former Lebanese President Amine Gemayel, former deputy Fares Soaid and Governor of Mount Lebanon Mohammed Makkawi. They discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the need to focus on building the nation’s future.
Amine Gemayel made it clear that his visit to the Patriarch comes under difficult circumstances in Lebanon, citing a political vacuum as the country’s leaders are completely absent from their political duty and pointing out that it is necessary to consult with the Patriarch on matters related to the future of Lebanon. Amine Gemayel called to close ranks in the current political vacuum.
The former President added that the Lebanese people are tired of talking, and all they want is to live in dignity and stability, and what is required today is a pause of conscience, an emotional pause, and a focus on building the nation’s future.
Mor Béchara Boutros al-Raï also received the former Lebanese representative, Fares Soaid. During the meeting, they discussed the terms of the Arab initiative and the necessity of implementing the Taif Agreement in international resolutions, not interfering in Arab affairs and demanding neutrality.
