Syriac–Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation commemorates the 2015 Khabur Region invasion by ISIS
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – On the anniversary of the Khabur Region invasion in Syria, member of Syriac–Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation Warda Yousef Affa spoke to Suroyo TV about the Khabur Region invasion by the Islamic State (ISIS) in 2015.
“Although it was a painful event, we are proud of our Syriac–Assyrian martyrs who sacrificed their lives to get rid of terrorism and restore peace in the region,” Affa stated.
She declared that the world must know that the Syriac–Assyrian martyrs in Khabour Region fought to the last breath and wrote with their blood heroic epics that make the Syriac people proud.
“Our martyrs not only sacrificed their lives, but also wanted to convey the message of peace to the whole world, that darkness will finally disappear and goodness will return,” she added.
Affa indicated that migration, displacement, and murder were among the effects of 2015 ISIS invasion, whose repercussions have remained until today, as many of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people are still emigrating.
Affa thanked the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) for the protection and efforts they provide to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in terms of liberating our regions from the abomination of ISIS terrorism.
