USUP President Ibrahim Mrad meets with leaders of Lebanon’s Continual Federal Congress
BEIRUT — During a meeting on Tuesday with Dr. Alfred Riachi and engineer Racha Itani, President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) Ibrahim Mrad discussed Lebanese and international developments, stressing that the upcoming parliamentary elections are only one step in the struggle to achieve freedom and justice.
Dr. Alfred Riachi is the Secretary-General of the Continual Federal Congress (CFG), an organization committed to establishing federalism in Lebanon. Racha Itani is the general coordinator of the CFG and the candidate for the Sunni seat in the second Beirut constituency.
During the meeting, Mrad confirmed the USUP’s support for the candidacy of Racha Itani, especially as she boldly confronts Hezbollah’s project, represents the rising young generation, and clearly expresses the aspirations of the Lebanese people. Itani expresses the party’s future political vision, represented in the establishment of the federal system in Lebanon, said Mrad.
Both Riyashi and Itani thanked Mrad and the Universal Syriac Union Party for being among the founders of the CFG on the basis of the struggle in defense of Lebanon and its people. They further thanked Mrad for his support of the establishment of a federal system in Lebanon.
The attendees discussed developments in Lebanon and the international scene, stressing that the upcoming parliamentary elections are nothing but a step to follow up on in the struggle to achieve freedom and justice.
It is noteworthy that this meeting comes within the ongoing preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Lebanon, in order to confront the Iranian project of occupation of Lebanon represented by Hezbollah, which is considered an essential pillar of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
