Syriac Maronite Patriarch al-Raï receives foreign representatives

BETH KERKE, Lebanon — On Tuesday, Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Beshara Boutros al-Raï received George Azar, representative of the French presidential candidate Éric Zemmour, at the patriarchal residence in Beth Kerke (Bkerke), Lebanon.

Summing up the fruitful discussion, Azar said, “we exchanged views on local and world developments, as well as the Patriarch’s demand to hold an international conference for Lebanon to restore the neutrality of the country.”

He also conveyed the message of presidential candidate Zemmour to the Patriarch, in which Zemmour promised, if elected, that he will do his best to form an international committee that recognizes Lebanon’s neutrality.

The Patriarch also received Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. Yerzan Kalikinov, who was accompanied by his advisor Bilal Junaid.

The purpose of the diplomatic visit was to deliver to the Patriarch a written letter from Kazakhstan’s president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The letter included an official invitation to visit Kazakhstan and participate in the Seventh Conference of Religious Leaders to be held on 14 and 15 September in the capital city of Nur-Sultan.

“I am fully confident that the participation of the Syriac Maronite Patriarch in the conference will give a new impetus to the development of global interfaith dialogue,” the Kazakh president stated in his letter.
