IRAQ: Director General of Syriac Study Imad Salem Jajo inspects educational institutions in Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk)
KERKESLOKH, Iraq — Last week, the Director General of Syriac Study in Iraq, Imad Salem Jajo, made an inspection tour of educational and religious institutions in Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk) Governorate.
The visit aimed at inspecting the exams of primary and secondary schools that teach the Syriac language and Christian education.
During his visit to Kerkeslokh Education Department, Jajo met with the Assistant Director General Omar Qadir.
He also visited the Syriac Studies Department in Kerkeslokh Education and met with the Department Director Munir Jalal, the educational staff and students.
The tour takes place within the annual plan of the General Directorate of Syriac Study to follow up the situation of the Syriac schools and educational process.
Jajo stressed the importance of paying attention to teaching the Syriac language because it is also included in the baccalaureate exams for the next academic year.
He confirmed the Directorate’s perseverance in its efforts to ensure the successful teaching of the Syriac language by recording educational lessons on the Iraq Educational Channel, establishing a channel in the Directorate, and holding development courses for educational staff.
Jajo also visited the Chaldean Archbishop of Kerkeslokh and Sulaymaniyah Youssef Touma. They discussed ways of joint cooperation between the Syriac Directorate and ecclesiastical institutions concerned with teaching the Syriac language and Christian education.
