HASAKAH, ZALIN, Syria — The Martyrs’ Families Authority in Amuda, under the supervision of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) in North and East Syria, launched an initiative to restore the roundabouts of the Syriac-Assyrian martyrs in Hasakah and Zalin (Qamishli).
In 2017 and 2018, the roundabouts were named in honor of the martyrs of the Bethnahrain National Council (Mawtbo Umthoyo D’Bethnahrin, MUB).
Head of the Authority in Zalin (Qamishli) Branch Yacoub Hanoun stated that the initiative started about a week ago, after repeated requests from the Authority.
Hanoun added that the parents, wife, children of each martyr receive a monthly aid, but it is not at the required level, amid the dire living conditions.
The Syriac Cross Organization for Relief and Development has been organizing psychological support courses for families of martyrs from all ethnic groups, in addition to music, drawing, sewing and computer courses.
It also provides them with medicines and gifts on religious and national occasions.
