Syriac Union Party and other parties in North and East Syria call for ending Turkish control in Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — A group of political parties in North and East Syria, including the Syriac Union Party (SUP), issued a statement, in which they condemned killing 4 citizens from the Turkish-controlled town of Jindires in Cafrin (Afrin) and injuring others, by Turkish-backed factions, on the Newruz eve.
The statement indicated that Turkey, as an occupying power, and the Syrian Alliance as a political cover for the occupation, are responsible for this crime and other tragedies that take place in the Turkish-controlled Syrian regions.
“Any attempts to acquit Turkey and the Alliance are nothing but a falsification of the tragic situation that residents of Cafrin (Afrin) and the other controlled regions experience,” read the statements.
In their statement, the political parties called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, the U.S. and Russia, to end the Turkish occupation of Cafrin (Afrin), Tel Abyad, Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ain) and all occupied areas of northern Syria.
They also demanded classifying the proxies of the Syrian National Army (SNA) with all its formations of the Syrian Alliance as a terrorist organization.
The political parties called on all Syrian peoples to struggle to end the Turkish occupation on Syrian territory, as well as stand with the uprising in Cafrin (Afrin) and the displaced safe return to their areas.
The statement stressed the need to expedite the implementation of UN Resolution no. 2254 in order to reach a sustainable solution to the Syrian crisis and reach a democratic, parliamentary, pluralistic and decentralized homeland, in which all Syrian citizens enjoy justice, freedom and equality.
