Syriac American citizen Sargon Ablahad found murdered during his visit to Iraq

ZAKHO, Iraq — The family of Syriac Sargon Salem Ablahad, an American citizen who traveled from the US to visit his relatives in Iraq, is in shock after his body was found in a hospital in Baghdad.

Ablahad, hailing from Omra (Deira Shish) village in Zakho, had been missing for three days before his murder was discovered.

Authorities have not released any information about the incident, but the family has entrusted their son’s case to lawyer Dhafer Noah.

Via Facebook, Noah has requested accuracy in publishing any details about the attack and indicated that they have started judicial procedures to find out the truth.

This is the second incident of an American citizen being killed in Baghdad, with the armed faction Saraya Ahl al-Kahf claiming responsibility for the previous death in November 2022.
