Syriac politician Israel Yusef Budak assumes Deputy Mayor position in Pohlheim, Germany
POHLHEIM, Germany — Last Thursday, Syriac politician and activist Israel Yusef Budak officially assumed the role of Deputy Mayor of the Pohlheim Municipality, marking a milestone in his dedicated service to the community in Germany.
During an interview with Suroyo TV correspondent Emmanuel Melli, Budak expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support he received from the residents of Pohlheim and the Social Democratic Party. Their backing played a pivotal role in elevating him to this influential position.
Having spent five decades in Europe, with a substantial portion of that time devoted to Pohlheim, Budak emphasized the importance of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community actively participating in their adopted countries. He urged his fellow Syriacs (Arameans–Assyrians–Chaldeans) people not to perceive themselves merely as guests but as contributors to the societal fabric, working alongside the local population for shared prosperity.
“When peoples cease to work, it equates to the end of their existence,” Budak asserted passionately, underlining the vital role of sustained engagement. He firmly believes in unlocking the energies and potential within the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community to showcase their meaningful presence.
“The Syriac people should integrate with the surrounding communities to prevent their extinction and safeguard their rich history,” he continued, emphasizing the need for cultural integration and preservation.
On behalf of the Suroyo TV Administration and SyriacPress, warmest congratulations are extended to Budak, coupled with sincere wishes for success and accomplishment in his new position.
