BRUSSELS — Prayer services and events were held in numerous cities across Europe to honor the memory of the three martyred members of the Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro) martyred in a Turkish drone strike in Dayrik (Derik / Malikiyah), North and East Syria.
In Giessen, Germany, prayers were conducted at the Mor Had B-Shabo Church with Father Shamoun Karkmaz, the Mor Elijah Church with Father Iskander Kaplan, and the Mor Aphram Church with Father Lahdo Aydin.
In Wiesbaden, Germany, prayers took place at the Mor Gabriel Church with Father Elio Çelik, and the Mor Isaiah Church with Father Sabri Shaheen. Additional prayers were held at the Mor Dimit Church in Hamburg, Germany, led by Father Hanna Jan.
Meanwhile, in Bellinzona, Switzerland, the congregation of Mor Yacoub Church gathered with Father Abrohom Bandar to commemorate the martyrs. Members of the European Syriac Union (ESU) provided a meal of comfort.
In the days ahead, churches and cultural centers will continue to hold memorial events honoring the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and unity of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in their homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia).
