New priest ordained for Mor Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church in Zalin, North and East Syria

ZALIN, Syria — Under the patronage of Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih, the evangelical deacon Afram Shakro was ordained as a priest for Mor Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church in Zalin, North and East Syria on Friday.

The ordination began with a Divine Liturgy presided over by Mor Maurice Amsih, assisted by priests and deacons.

In his sermon, Mor Maurice Amsih blessed and congratulated the parish and the newly-ordained priest in his church service.

The priest, in turn, delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to the church, clerics and all the believers who participated in the presence of the ordination.

He pledged to serve the church and its parish with all dedication and sincerity.

The Church Local Council presented souvenirs to the ordained priest, person in charge of the church affairs and former priest Father Habib Issa, in honor of his service to the church and parish over the past years.

The believers also extended their congratulations to the new priest Afram Shakro, and they wished him success in his priestly service.
