Outrage among Syriac–Assyrian community following attack on Assyrian Bishop in Sydney

SYDNEY — As condemnation mounts in response to the recent knife attack on Assyrian Church of the East Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel in Sydney, global Syriac organizations unite in solidarity.

The European Syriac Union denounced the barbaric attack on Bishop Emmanuel, extending heartfelt wishes for his swift recovery following this senseless act of violence.

The Assyrian Democratic Organization condemned the cowardly attack perpetrated by an unnamed extremist assailant against the clergyman. Urging Australian authorities to swiftly unveil the motives behind this terrorist act and bring the perpetrator to justice, the organization underscored the need for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure in the face of adversity, the organization called upon the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community in Australia to refrain from retaliatory actions that could tarnish its esteemed reputation.
