Sovereign Front for Lebanon stands with families of Beirut Port Explosion victims

BEIRUT — The Sovereign Front for Lebanon organized a solidarity meeting at its headquarters in Beirut’s Sodeco neighborhood to support the families of the victims and martyrs of the Beirut Port explosion. The gathering aimed to discuss the ongoing quest for justice in the wake of the devastating tragedy.

Camille Joseph Chamoun, the coordinator of the Sovereign Front, emphasized that justice prevails when pursued with determination. He expressed hope that, just as justice was eventually served for martyrs assassinated by the Syrian Baathist regime, the day will come when the victims of the Beirut Port explosion will find peace. Chamoun reaffirmed the Front’s commitment to following up on the case and standing by the victims’ families to ensure accountability.

Ziad Hawat, a deputy from Strong Republic, congratulated the Syrian people on their recent liberation from the regime’s oppression. He called on Lebanese judges to recognize the end of regional hegemony and to take bold steps toward uncovering the truth. Hawat stressed the importance of identifying those responsible for importing, storing, and smuggling the ammonium nitrate that caused the explosion, noting that regime changes in Syria could shed new light on this crime.

Bassam Khader Agha, Vice President of the Change Movement, praised the resilience of the Lebanese people and reaffirmed support for the victims’ families. Lawyer Cecile Roukoz highlighted that the Beirut Port explosion is a pivotal national issue, calling for a revival of investigations and stressing that Lebanon’s transition from war should pave the way for justice.

William Noun, the lawyer representing the victims, commended the Sovereign Front for its consistent advocacy on behalf of the explosion’s victims. He also acknowledged the significance of the Syrian Baath Party’s downfall, calling it a hopeful step toward revealing the truth behind the tragedy.

The meeting underscored the need for renewed efforts to achieve justice and accountability for one of Lebanon’s most devastating disasters.
