IRAQ: Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union congratulates Zowaa on 46th anniversary of founding
NOHADRA, Kurdistan Region of Iraq — The Beth Nahrain Patriotic Union (Huyodo d’Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA) commemorated the 46th founding anniversary of the Assyrian Democratic Movement (Zowaa) in an official telegram, honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the movement’s cause.
The HBA reaffirmed its commitment to joint national efforts aimed at securing the full rights of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in their ancestral homeland of Beth Nahrin (Mesopotamia). Both HBA and Zowaa are part of the Athra Alliance, which unites four major political parties representing Iraq’s indigenous Christian communities.
Zowaa issued a statement reiterating its dedication to democracy, national rights, and political representation in Iraq. It stressed the importance of preserving the historical presence of their people through authentic political partnerships and peaceful coexistence.
The European Syriac Union (ESU), represented by Daniel Shabo, participated in anniversary celebrations held by Zowaa in Norrköping, Sweden. The event, which marked Zowaa’s 46th year, was attended by representatives from the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO), Iraqi and Kurdish political parties, and Iraqi diplomatic officials.
The celebrations featured patriotic performances by singers Ablahad Lahdo and Gewargis Ezriya. During the event, Yalda Maroukel delivered Zowaa’s keynote address, emphasizing the urgent need for unity among Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian political organizations to achieve the collective national aspirations of their people in Beth Nahrin.
