Mar Ibrahim Library opens in West Bloomfield, Michigan
WEST BLOOMFIELD (Michigan), U.S. — This week saw the official inauguration of the Mar Ibrahim Library at the new facility of the Chaldean Community Foundation in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The opening ceremony was attended by a number of bishops, priests, clergy, financial donors, and members of the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian community in the area.
Martin Manna, president of The Chaldean Community Foundation and the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the guests and spoke about the importance and the range of services offered by the new library—which holds mainly religious books and manuscripts in the Aramaic language.

Bishop Basil Yaldo (Baghdad) delivered a speech on behalf of Patriarch of the Chaldean Church Mar Louis Raphaël I Sako, congratulating Bishops Ibrahim Namo Ibrahim and Francis Yohana Kalabat (Detroit) for their pivotal roles in establishing the important edifice.
During the event, Bishop Kalabat explained the vision behind establishing the library and expressed gratitude to the donors and all who made the project possible. Retired bishop of Detroit Ibrahim Namo Ibrahim, after whom the library is named, also thanked all attendees for their support and marked the library’s opening as a milestone for the Chaldean-Syriac-Assyrian community in Michigan.
