Hakkari and Barzani discuss situation of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Kurdistan Region of Iraq
ANKAWA, Iraq — Fearing the increasing tension between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi central government would negatively impact the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people, head of Bethnahrain Patriotic Union (HBA) and leader of the National Union Coalition Romeo Hakkari met with head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Masoud Barzani in Salah al-Din.
The discussion revolved around the political, economic, and social conditions in the region and the ongoing attempts to solve the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil.
Hakkari also reportedly touched on the situation of our Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in the region and the extent to which their future and rights are protected.
Barzani, in turn, affirmed his continuous support for the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people and his endeavor to solve their problems and legally build a secure future for them. He also stressed his full support for coexistence between all the national and religious components and peoples of the region.
