Casualties continue to climb following several nights of Turkish artillery bombardment targeting Tel Tamr and Abu Rasayn in North and East Syria

TEL TAMR — As Turkish forces continue targeting the Tel Tamr and Abu Rasayn areas with artillery, civilians pay the price, with the death toll over the last several nights rising to four.

Coinciding with the bombardments, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) has attempted several times to infiltrate the Syriac–Assyrian village of Timar (Umm al-Keif) along the line of contact north of Tel Tamr in the Khabur River Valley.

“Since yesterday morning, Tel Tamr countryside has been targeted by Turkish forces and their mercenaries with more 800 artillery shells,” the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF) Media Center said on Wednesday.

“In light of the continuing Turkish violent shelling, the Turkish forces with the support of the Syrian mercenaries have conducted three infiltration attempts that were foiled by the SDF,” the Media Center added.

The Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) and Tel Tamr Military Council continue to resist and repel Turkish-backed attacks along the Tel Tamr frontline.

During a recent interview with Rojava FM, SDF Aram Hanna stated that the SDF has thwarted many attacks launched by the SNA, specifically on the village of Skirou in the countryside of Ayn Issa. He stated that the SDF has killed many SNA fighters in defensive actions in recent months, forcing them to flee back to their lines. Hanna assured that the SDF were ready to defend the people of the region and repel any attacks.

Several days ago, the power station in Timar near Tel Tamr and power lines servicing the area were also targeted. The strike in Timar caused a power outage, which maintenance teams are working to repair.
