Syrian Democratic Forces Spokesperson Aram Hanna: Turkish bombing on Syriac–Assyrian village of Tel Tawil endangers civilians
TEL TAMR, Syria — Turkish forces bombed the Syriac–Assyrian village of Tel Tawil and the surrounding area in the Tel Tamr countryside with indiscriminate artillery for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, said Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Spokesperson Aram Hanna. Turkish and Turkish-backed Syrian National Amy (SNA) forces routinely shell the villages of the Khabur River Valley, putting the lives of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in direct danger.
“The Turkish bombing damaged civilian property and public facilities,” said Hanna. “Churches and religious sanctuaries were also targeted, as happened in the past months when the Mor Sawa Church in Tel Tawil was damaged.”
Hanna confirmed that the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS), alongside the Tel Tamr Military Council, are taking the necessary defensive measures to defend the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and the region.
“Our forces deal with the sources of fire in accordance with the principle of legitimate defense,” he concluded.
