PALESTINE: Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs warns of repeated Israeli attacks on Christian holy sites
TEL AVIV — Israeli attacks continue on Christian holy sites in Palestine. Israel practices demolition, Judaization and displacement to impose its control over Jerusalem.
Head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine Ramzi Khoury sent several letters to the Palestine Liberation Organization and churches of the world, urging them to confront what threatens the Christian presence in Palestine.
Khoury called on them to take explicit steps to defend the Christian holy sites and presence in Jerusalem in particular and Palestine in general.
The letters warned of the continued systematic violations of the current legal and historical status of religious sites in Jerusalem, which threatens to erase the pluralistic character of Jerusalem and reflects a deep-rooted hostility to Christianity and Islam.
The letters also included a comprehensive report on the violations against churches and monasteries since the beginning of 2023 and attacks on the residents. In addition to the displacement, demolition of houses and attempts to control the holy sites, in violation of international law and the relevant UN resolutions.
