Coordination and Consultation Committee of Syriac-Assyrian people’s political parties in Syria stresses Khabur Valley property protection
KHABUR VALLEY, Syria — As part of its efforts to protect the property of the Syriac (Aramean-Chaldean-Assyrian) people in Syria, the Coordination and Consultation Committee of the Syriac people’s political parties in Syria met with the Tel Tamer Council in the Gozarto (Jazira) Canton in North and East Syria.
The Committee delegation included member of the Executive Body of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) Simon Jirjis, member of the Assyrian Democratic Party (ADP) Johnny Hormuz and member of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) Nabil Oshana.
The two sides discussed the situation of the Syriac people villages in the Khabur Valley and how to protect the property of the Syriac people there.
In comments to our news desk, Jirjis stated that the meeting resulted in a number of decisions, most notably removing those who entered the village of Tel Juma in an illegal way and follow-up on the implementation of the decisions with the Tel Tamer Council.
He added that they are primarily concerned with the property of the Syriac people in the villages of the Khabur Valley, by removing those currently in the villages and transferring them to camps.
Jirjis stressed that the Committee is working to create an appropriate environment to return the Syriac people to their historical land and preserve their property from any encroachments.
