Uzbek delegation visits North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA – On Thursday, the Foreign Relations Commission of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria received a delegation from Uzbekistan headed by Advisor to the Prime Minister Mehriddin Khairyddinov.
The delegation was received by Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission Department Abdul Karim Omar, Fener al-Geit, Sanaa Dahm, and Hanar Beju.
The two sides exchanged views on the current situation in Syria in general and in the DAA regions in particular, stressing the need to solve the Syrian crisis in accordance with international decisions. They also affirmed the need to develop their joint relations.
Both sides stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and deliver humanitarian aid to the regions of North and East Syria, as well as provide medical supplies to help curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the region.
They also touched on the ongoing Turkish threats and repeated attacks in the region and the tragic conditions of the refugees and forcibly displaced people in the camps of North and East Syria as a result of the Turkish invasion in October 2019.
Of particular note, the delegation discussed the issue of families of the Islamic State in Al-Hol and Roj camps.
