104 Civil Society Organizations condemn Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, call for immediate end to escalating violence

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In response to escalating Turkish attacks on North and East Syria, 104 civil society organizations from the region issued a joint statement denouncing the assaults and highlighting the severe human and infrastructure toll. According to the statement, Turkish bombardments have resulted in the deaths of 17 people, including two children, and injuries to 51 others, with strikes ongoing.

The organizations emphasized that these actions constitute a violation of international humanitarian law, undermining the security and stability of the region. They reported that Turkish forces targeted civilian areas and essential infrastructure, including electricity and gas stations, grain silos, hospitals, factories, bakeries, and multiple Internal Security Forces (ISF) checkpoints.

The statement concluded with an urgent call for an immediate cessation of hostilities against civilians and critical facilities, urging respect for international humanitarian law. The groups emphasized that Turkey’s attacks amount to war crimes, demanding accountability and protection for the region’s inhabitants.
