Assyrian Church of the East opens new Patriarchal Headquarters in Erbil

ERBIL, Iraq — On Monday, the Assyrian Church of the East inaugurated its new Patriarchal Headquarters in Erbil in the presence of clergy from various Churches and a large gathering of Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

Present at the inauguration was Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mor Awa III Royel, Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Mor Louis Raphael I Sako, Mor John Boutros Moshe — representative of the Syriac Catholic Patriarch, Archbishop Mor Nicodemus Daoud Matta Sharaf, President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Massoud Barzani, as well asbishops and priests from various Churches, representatives from international consulates, international organizations, and civil and governmental organizations.

The inauguration ceremony included the screening of a film documenting the construction of the headquarters, followed by speeches delivered by Patriarch Mar Awa III Royel and KDP President Barzani.
