Patriarch of Assyrian Church of the East meets with Russian Orthodox Patriarch

MOSCOW — In a show of unity and appreciation, the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill I, has bestowed the prestigious Order of Glory and Honor, First Class, upon the Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III Royel. This esteemed gesture underscores the integral role of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) community in Russia and their growing importance within the fabric of the country.

Recognizing the significant and impactful presence of these communities in various aspects of Russian life, the meeting between Patriarch Kirill I and Patriarch Mar Awa III Royel aimed to emphasize their contributions to the Russian state.

Following their discussions, Patriarch Kirill stated that the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people have become an essential part of Russian society, affirming that they can no longer be regarded as mere immigrants.

In further acknowledgment of their contributions, Patriarch Kirill also presented Patriarch Royel with the Order of Glory and Honor, First Class, in recognition of their unwavering dedication to the betterment of Russia and its people.
